Copies of Octopus Intelligence have recently started showing up in libraries across Canada, so as a lifelong supporter of the public library system, I encourage anyone who hasn’t read the book to sign out a copy from their local library or, if it’s not on hand at your neighborhood branch, request a copy through interlibrary loan. Signing out books helps ensure that local libraries continue to be funded for their role supporting community education and development. (Full disclosure: it also benefits authors through the Public Lending Right Commission.)

I’ll be participating in a group discussion of Octopus Intelligence on March 26, 2010, as part of the University of Toronto’s Writers’ Co-operative workshop series. The event is free of charge and open to the public. Location information will be posted when available.
